Happy Halloween

Trick or Treat will be held on Saturday, October 31st between the hours of 6 to 7:30 PM.  Please watch the little ones and be safe.

The Issue 1 project for the reconstruction of Twp. 391 North of US. Rt. 224 to the county line has been completed.  We appreciate all your patients while this project was under construction.  We now have a road with an improved base that should hold up for many years to come with proper maintenance.  We now have approximately 13 miles of our 25 miles of road in our township with improved bases.  Slowly we are moving from the stone roads that have been around since the township was settled to roads we can be proud of.

The Township has placed a Levy on the November ballot.  As of January 2010, the Township will no longer receive any monies from the previous Fire and EMS levies.  The Township will be forced to take steps to insure uninterrupted Fire and EMS service.  We will have limited options as a Township.  The State of Ohio has cut our local government fund.  We would need to make cuts across the board.  Some services would need to be discontinued.  Road project would be cut to bare minimum and we would only conduct business as necessary.  In addition, it has been discussed in meetings of billing for all Fire and EMS runs.  We currently do not bill anyone for Fire calls and have a soft billing for EMS.  This can be very costly to the individual needing these services and many insurance companies do not cover the home owner for these charges.  We checked with 5 different insurance companies and only 2 offer such insurance.  This insurance will need to purchased at an additional charge of up to $250.00 per year and will only cover an additional $10,000 in charges.

There can be a silver lining to all of this if we as a community come together and vote YES for this Levy.  This will be a General Levy and can be used for more than just Fire and EMS.  We can repair roads, give attention to our cemeteries and begin to replace some of our older township vehicles.

The Levy will cost the home owner approximately $60 for every $100,000 of evaluation. This would mean that if your home is worth $150,000, your yearly cost would be approximately $90.

This is far cheaper than trying to purchase additional insurance to protect your home.  We are trying to provide the community with quality service at the lowest possible cost.  We need your help.

Please vote YES for the Sullivan Levy
Have a Happy Holidays and a safe and enjoyable fall and winter.
