Sullivan Township Trustees Attendance Duane Jenkins Chairman
The Meeting is being taped for the benefit of the Township Campbell moved to approve the February 17, 2009 Minutes Hickey second Roll call all yes. Hickey moved to pay the monthly bills Campbell second Roll call all yes.
Richard Johnson asked about the News Letter. He also asked the Trustees if they would be putting someone part time for summer help to work on the Road if need be. Trustees stated when the time comes they would hire someone for the roads. Janice Steele asked the Trustees how they were going to address the Fire & EMS Levy in the News Letter. She suggested using brighter paper to draw attention to the letter and to explaining the need for it. Barb Herrick asked the Trustees if they would still purchase the Flags for Memorial Day. The Trustees stated they would and for her to get with the Fiscal Officer to have them ordered. She also asked about the Fire & EMS Levy that will be on ballot. Jenkins explained that the Levy could be used for Fire or EMS because the Fire part of the old Levy does not generate as much as EMS. Barb asked the Trustees how many Squads we have. Campbell stated two the one Squad was turned into a Heavy Rescue Vehicle that would carry the Turnout Gear and Equipment. Steve Shinsky informed the Trustees that the Heavy Rescue Vehicle is ready to roll all that needs done is the lettering. Jenkins Thank everyone who worked on the Vehicle to get it going. Bob Knowlton informed the Trustees that he and other members from the Department went to Litchfield Fire Department to look at 1981 Fire Engine and a 1979 Tanker they had for sale he stated they drove both Vehicles and they ran really great. He also stated he looked over all the maintenance records kept on them and they were well maintained and very detailed. Cost for both Vehicles $4500.00.Campbell stated he had a chance to see them and they are in very good shape. Campbell moved to advance the $4500.00 out of the General Fund into the Fire Fund to be retrieved when the taxes come in. Jenkins second Roll call Campbell yes Jenkins yes Hickey no.
Fiscal Officer had a bill for Taxes due on Township Property Campbell moved to pay the bill because the Fiscal Officer gets it straighten out so it would not be late. Hickey second Roll call all yes. Fiscal Officer turned in a letter to Janice Steele Fiscal Officer turned the Road Crews Time Sheets Campbell signed them. Fiscal Officer had Hickey and Janice resigned the Affidavit on the Fire Pond and Janice Notarized it. Fiscal Officer thanked her. Fiscal Officer asked Chief Shelton if he had a Budget for the Fire Department. Chief Shelton stated he did not. He stated he did not know that he needed a budget since they are allowed to spend up to $1000.00. Jenkins asked the Fiscal Officer to get the past 3 years for Shelton. She stated she would. Fiscal Officer gave Trustees copies of the size and cost for Dumpster. Trustees tabled it until next meeting. Fiscal Officer gave Trustees copies of quotes for Mowers. Trustees tabled it until next meeting. Fiscal Officer asked Chief Shelton if she could get copies of every ones NIMS Certificate the Chief stated he would get them to her.
Chief Shelton turned his monthly mileage report on the Command Vehicle, Chief Shelton turned in an invoice for the SCBA. Chief Shelton asked Hickey to turn in his Key and Radio since he is no longer on the Fire Department. Hickey read an opinion that he wrote to send to the Prosecutors Office about him having a Key and Radio since he is a Trustee and NIMS Certified. Chief Shelton asked Hickey not to enter the Fire Department without a Fire Member because it is a State Law. Hickey stated that would not be problem. Campbell stated Hickey is to get with Les at his earliest to turn over the Key and Radio. Hickey moved by Resolution to send the opinion to the Prosecutor’s Office Campbell second Roll call Hickey yes Campbell yes Jenkins no.
Chief Benner asked for a key to the copy room for the Fire Department. Fiscal Officer gave her a key, also Peggy Skinner, Bud Jantz on Zoning Board, David Spieker Zoning Inspector Carol Stasick Jerry Sayles Appeal Board Gary Hollingsworth Road Supervisor. Road Report Gary informed the Trustees the Flush Valve for the Urinal is $115.00 from Wolf Brothers. Campbell moved to purchase the Unit for $115.00 Hickey second Roll call all yes. Zoning Report Spieker turned information to go in the News Letter. Spieker turned in his monthly report. Spieker asked the Fiscal Officer for Stamps and Envelops. Fiscal Officer will get them for him.
Hickey stated he met with Chief Shelton in the January Fire Meeting to turn in his Equipment and he turned in a letter. Shelton suggested he think about taken a personal leave instead of resigning. Hickey stated he agreed and went on personal leave. Hickey stated he did not have to be certified until he comes off personal leave. Shelton stated everyone according to the state had to be certified by January 24th midnight it’s the State Law. Hickey spoke to the Fire Department Members. He stated that he had be on the Fire Department for 12 years and seen it go through three name changes and he had more love for the Department than anyone sitting in the room. Jenkins stated to Hickey that every step of the way it has be a challenge trying to get things done for the Fire Department and that Hickey has been a Road block. Campbell stated that Hickey did not vote yes on anything for the Fire Department all you do is trash them. Hickey moved to give Susan Denbow a key to the Community Room for the 4-H Meetings Richard Johnson asked the Trustees if Janice will be handling the Tires on Clean up Day Trustees stated she would be. Trustees stated when anyone uses the Community Room it must be cleaned up. Campbell spoke about the Meeting he attended in Ashland on Wednesday the subject was about a County Wide Building Inspector that’s in the works. Campbell moved to adjourn at 8:30 P.M.
